The purpose of this book is to highlightsimilarities in the works of Spanish architectAntoni Gaudí and Austrian architect FriedensreichHundertwasser. In order to examine theirsimilarities, it was first necessary to set the workof both men in context. An overview of the lives andcareers of both men provides an analysis of theinfluences on and theories and ideologies of botharchitects and highlights their most importantworks. It is clearly evident that both Gaudí andHundertwasser shared some of the same ideologies,such as the importance of nature and the rejectionof the straight line. Indeed their love for natureis reflected in the majority of their works. Thebook concludes with a comparative study of some oftheir works, which reveal some of the mainsimilarities in their creations, such as the use ofvivid colours, tiling, the influence of nature andnatural shapes utilising inexpensive materials. Inusing these techniques one could argue that bothGaudí and Hundertwasser succeeded in creating a newarchitectural reality.
